Omran Group inks pacts to strengthen tourism services

BUSINESS REPORTER

MUSCAT, Sept 6

Oman Tourism Development Company (Omran Group) – the executive arm of the Sultanate for tourism development – today signed a series of Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) with Oman Ground Handling (Transom Handling), a subsidiary of Oman Airports, with the aim of strengthening the partnership between Omran Group and the aviation sector.

The agreements will serve the travel and tourism value chain through various services and products.

The agreements were signed between Hashil bin Obaid al Mahrouqi, CEO of Omran Group, Shabib bin Mohammed al Maamari, Managing Director of the National Travel Operator (Visit Oman) and Saud bin Abdulaziz al Azizi, Executive Director of Transom Handling at the Majan Lounge in Muscat International Airport.

The signed agreements come in line with the objectives of the National Tourism Strategy 2040 to enhance the experiences of travelers and tourists in the Sultanate.

The first agreement signed between both parties aims to offer services to Omran Group hotels’ guests by enabling them to use the facilities at Majan Lounge in Muscat International Airport. The second agreement laid down the scope of the registration of Majan Lounge’s services on the National Travel Operator platform ‘VisitOman.om’. The third agreement shall pursue opportunities to provide a host of incentives and facilities to Omran Group and its subsidiaries.

“At Omran Group, we work diligently to establish new initiatives that enhance the growth of the tourism sector in the Sultanate. By partnering with TRANSOM Handling at Oman Airports, we are able to support the linkage across the value chain of the promising local travel and tourism sector, expand business and create new advantages. We believe in such collaborative approach and will continue to deliver the best through this tie-up,” said Hashil bin Obaid al Mahrouqi, CEO of Omran Group.

“Aligning ourselves to Oman Vision 2040 and the plans geared towards economic diversification and tourism distribution strategy, our strategic partnerships will not only help boost the tourism sector in Oman but will place us on the global map as a premium destination for travel,” Al Mahrouqi added

Shabib bin Mohammed al Maamari, Managing Director of the National Travel Operator (Visit Oman) said, “The ‘VisitOman.om’ portal is aimed at creating a digital linkage between Omani travel and tourism service providers and commercial trade partners in the key target markets. With the addition of Majan Lounge to the platform, we aim to enhance the journey of travelers through Muscat International Airport by giving them the opportunity to experience premium facilities.”

Saud bin Abdulaziz al Azizi, Executive Director of Transom Handling, said: “We are delighted to join hands with Omran Group and are certain that this partnership will result in the creation of more innovative opportunities in the future. These agreements reflect a shared vision between the companies where the ultimate objective is to enhance the tourism sector.”

Earlier in the year, Omran Group had announced the brand identity of the National Travel Operator, ‘VisitOman.om’ which is the first integrated digital platform dedicated to serving the travel and trade networks.

Registration is still available to partners in the travel and tourism sector in international markets, as well as the local suppliers operating in the Sultanate, aiming to launch all platform services during Q4 of this year.
