The health sector is displaying the availability of a diverse range of health services and facilities in Oman at the Oman Science Festival.
Abdullah al Salti, one of the organisers of the health pavilion of the Ministry of Health, stated that 17 governmental and private institutions are taking part in the OSF.
Sultan Qaboos Comprehensive Cancer Care & Research Centre’s participation in the exhibition is to highlight its modern medical equipment and advanced information systems.
It is participating with more than 13 different activities at the festival. “The Centre is using the latest technology and equipment for cancer patients to ensure patient safety,” said Iqbal al Amri, a physicist in the radiotherapy department of Sultan Qaboos Comprehensive Cancer Care & Research Centre.
The Sultanate of Oman’s motorsports medical team, which is affiliated with the Oman Automobile Association, is participating in the festival to educate the public on automobile safety.
It specialises in receiving all kinds of accidents and injuries in motorsports.
“The Oman medical team for motorsports is considered the first team in Oman and the Middle East and all its members are qualified to provide the full medical care in different types of motor sports. It aims to highlight emergency healthcare in motor sports,” said Saud al Harthy, a volunteer in Oman’s motorsports medical team.
The fourth day of the Oman Science Festival included a number of training workshops at the Innovators corner. The University of Technology and Applied Sciences in Muscat organised a workshop titled “Innovation Culture Building Stages” that aim to introduce innovation stages by using the concept of Technology Readiness Levels (TRL) and Research for Development. It connected innovators with the innovation index approved in Oman Vision 2040 and the Global Innovation Index, with the focus on the most important skills the innovators need for the market.
The Artificial Innovation Academy presented a workshop titled “Importance of Incubation and Business Accelerators in Supporting Innovations and Startups” to introduce participants to what business accelerators are and reviews practical experiences of incubated companies. The workshop also aims to provide participants with the mechanisms and stages of incubation, starting with the idea and ending with the last investment rounds or the sale of the company itself.
