Muscat: His Excellency Dr. Hilal bin Ali Al-Sabti, Minister of Health, left the country on Saturday to head the Sultanate of Oman’s delegation at the World Health Summit, which will be conducted from 16 – 18 October in the Federal Republic of Germany, Berlin.
The World Health Summit has become one of the most important gatherings on global health. With the World Health Organization, this year’s Summit will focus on the commitment to global public goods, health equity, strong multilateral action for global health, and sharing scientific development and innovation.
The Summit will engage an even broader group of multisectoral actors and significantly increase the participation from low- and middle-income countries. This year’s World Health Summit will address global risks and threats, such as climate change and ecosystem degradation, as well as epidemics, natural and human-created disasters, conflicts, and violence. It will also focus on the game changers such as digital transformation and new approaches to investment in health.
Furthermore, the Summit will explore challenges of providing universal health coverage, ensuring smarter surveillance, and building resilient health systems. It will highlight the need for strong political commitment and multisectoral action.
It is worth mentioning that the Sultanate of Oman will deliver a speech about the global initiative of Health for Peace. This initiative was proposed by the Sultanate of Oman in partnership with Switzerland and the World Health Organization. It made achievements at the country, regional and global levels.
