59 Follow-Up Units to be set up for Oman Vision 2040

Muscat: Fifty-nine government offices are to be set up which will serve as Follow-Up Units of the Oman Vision 2040, under the current five-year plan.

In an interview on the Ma’a Al Shabiba show, Sultan bin Hamad Al Rohmi, Supervisor of Strategic Partnerships and establishment of offices of Oman Vision 2040, said this was in pursuance to the Royal Directives of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik on initiation and activation of fifty nine offices in government departments and entities for following-up implementation  part of Oman Vision 2040. On the integration of the roles of the offices with the role of the Unit for Implementation of Oman Vision 2040, Al Romhi pointed out that the Unit is concerned with implementation of Oman Vision 2040 and that its role is similar and analogous with that of the offices which will work as a mini-model of the Unit and will also be named after the name of the Unit due to similarity in their roles.

He said the key role of the offices of Oman Vision 2040 is to create an association between planning and implementation and to set performance indicators, if and when necessary.

Zanzibar President’s visit to strengthen ties
Dr. Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Araimi, Chairman of Oman Journalist Association (OJA) said the visit of the President of Zanzibar to the Sultanate comes within the visits aimed at achieving high level of coordination on several issues, including economic, between the Governments of Oman and Zanzibar.

The visit aimed to enhance and further develop these fields. The visit also comes within the joint coordination and enhancement of relations.

Opportunities available
The opportunities, mainly in the field of logistics are available in the Sultanate, he said, pointing to the fact that Zanzibar enjoys several tourist sites related to the Omani heritage in Zanzibar.

There are also other opportunities in the Sultanate in the field of investment in tourism and aviation. Zanzibar is considered the heart of Africa with a strategic location and is promising in the field of food, minerals and tourism sectors.

The coming stage would see signing of agreements, mainly on investments in the logistics field, he added.  Al Araimi said the Sultanate is rich in economic and tourism potentials and political stability and security are main factors motivating the countries and mega companies to establish partnerships with the economic and investment establishments and entities in the Sultanate.

Cybersecurity exercise organised
The eighth National Cyber Security Exercise, organised by the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology and represented by the National Center for Information Safety, kicked off from 11-12 October with the participation of 20 government establishments.

Dr. Haitham bin Hilal Al Hajri, Cyber Security Executive, National Centre for Information Safety, said that the exercise in the field of cyber security targeted several sectors of the government entities in the Sultanate and aimed to boost the culture of cybersecurity and to enhance the capabilities of the human cadre involved in the field and handling information security incidents and the optimal methods for dealing with such incidents on occurrence.
