NIZWA: Nizwa Cultural Centre launched the Creative Forum at its premises on Sunday.
It was organised by the Association of the Blind, Al Dakhiliyah Governorate Branch, with 60 members representing the association’s branches in the governorates of Muscat, Al Dakhiliyah, Dhofar, North Al Batinah and Al Dhahirah.
The opening ceremony was held under the auspices of Shaikh Rashid bin Said al Kalbani, Wali of Nizwa. The opening ceremony included a speech by Saud bin Salim al Azri, Head of the Blind Association, Al Dakhiliyah Governorate Branch. “The Association of the Blind seeks to diversify its activities. This forum aims to develop and refine skill of the visually impaired people through training workshops, lectures and other events.”
Ameer al Hadidi and Mohammad al Shuraiqi of The “Lane of Creativity” group presented a chanting. Then the theatre troupe members performed a play entitled ‘Insight’.
This was followed by a film showing the activities and events of Al Noor Association for the Blind, Al Dakhiliyah Branch. Then the Wali of Nizwa inaugurated the accompanying exhibition. It included many traditional industries, handicraft products and artworks made by the association’s members.
The forum will continue until October 20.
