Vaccine, negative PCR must for UAE entry

When Mama Dog didn't expect the warm welcome…

If you are travelling to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) by air or land, you must take a vaccine against Covid-19 and carry a negative PCR test. Another PCR test is mandatory for those coming to the Sultanate from the UAE.

One must carry documents to avoid hassle and confusion at entry points. Oman opened its borders on September 1, and many including students are going to the Emirates.

“Citizens of the Sultanate can travel to the UAE with a vaccination certificate and a negative PCR report,” the official from the Ministry of Health (MoH), said.

An expatriate resident of the Sultanate needs to carry an online visa besides travel insurance and a negative PCR report.

“A vaccination certificate is a must for a resident, besides the personal and vehicle insurance to enter the country if one is entering by road. Additionally, another PCR test needs to be taken while coming back to Oman,” said an official at the ministry.

Likewise, people who have had both doses of Covid-19 vaccine and negative PCR test are allowed to travel to the Sultanate.

The decision to reopen borders, which was welcomed by the people of both countries, was announced by the Supreme Committee tasked with tackling developments resulting from coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic at its meeting last month.

The Sultanate had closed its borders in April to prevent the spread of coronavirus.
