Talabat launches Oman’s first drone food delivery service

Muscat: Talabat, the region’s leading local tech platform will be launching the very first drone food delivery service in Oman. The new service will be launched in partnership with UVL Robotics and will be introduced in Muscat Bay effective as of today, with other areas to follow.

Talabat’s drone service is the first commercial food delivery by drone in the region, and has been developed with the aim to bring food delivery to a unique location, open up new cuisine choices for customers based on their location, and to provide greater economic opportunities to vendors through increased orders.

Mohamed Zourob, Managing Director of talabat’s operations in Oman, said: “Customer service is always at the top of mind with talabat and we are excited to launch our new driverless delivery to continue serving our customers. The success of the trial at Muscat Bay shows that advanced technology has a huge role to play in the future of the food delivery sector in Oman and across the region. We will continue to work with new partners to offer exceptional service and find innovative ways to enhance customers’ food order experience.”

Moosa al Balushi, co-founder and Regional Director of UVL robotics, comments on the agreement: “We are proud to announce that commercial drone delivery in Oman has finally become a reality. As a pioneer in drone delivery in the Middle East and an innovator in the logistics solutions industry, we are confident in the commercial viability of the project and are grateful to our talabat partners and Muscat Bay for a valuable partnership.”

Shaikh Hamood bin Sultan al Hosni, CEO, Muscat Bay, added: “Muscat Bay is a unique community and as the resort village that gives you more, it is a natural fit to be chosen as the location for the start of this exclusive new pilot programme from talabat and UVL Robotics. Residents of Muscat Bay will be able to experience the future of customer service today while continuing to enjoy the ultimate in modern convenience. We look forward to working side by side with both companies to offer an immersive lifestyle experience.” Consumers can now experience the greatest delivery on talabat through the iOS App Store, Google Playstore and Huawei App Gallery.
