Muscat: The MSX index closed at 3,970.10 points, up 0.25 per cent from the previous close. The Sharia Index ended up by 0.64 per cent at 592.15 points.
National Aluminum Product, up 5.19 per cent, was the top gainer while Arabia Falcon Insurance, down 4.80 per cent, was the top loser. Shares of National Aluminum Product was the most active in terms of the number of shares traded as well as in terms of turnover.
A total number of 736 trades were executed during the day’s trading session, generating a turnover of OMR2.94 million, with more than 17.2 million shares changing hands. Out of 45 traded securities, 12 advanced, 11 declined and 22 remained unchanged. At the session close, Domestic investors were net buyers for OMR436,000 while foreign investors were net sellers for OMR389,000 followed by GCC & Arab investors for OMR47,000 worth of shares.
Financial Index closed at 6,318 points, up 0.33 per cent. Price of National Bank Oman, Bank Nizwa, Muscat Finance, Al Sharqia Investment and Madina Takaful was up 2.16 per cent, 2.11 per cent, 1.64 per cent, 1.00 per cent and 0.94 per cent respectively. Arabia Falcon Insurance, Al Madina Investment, National Life Insurance, HSBC Bank Oman and Al Anwar Investment were down 4.80 per cent, 1.64 per cent, 1.09 per cent, 1.08 per cent and 0.86 per cent respectively.
Industrial Index closed at 6,010.84 points, down 0.02 per cent. Prices of National Aluminum Product, Al Maha Ceramics and Gulf International Chemicals were up 5.19 per cent, 1.63 per cent and 0.93 per cent respectively. Jazeera Steel Product and Raysut Cement were down 2.06 per cent and 0.74 per cent respectively.
Services Index was up by 0.13 per cent before closing at 1,714.29 points. Phoenix Power, National Gas and Al Jazeera Services were up 2.22 per cent, 1.33 per cent and 0.52 per cent respectively. Dhofar Generating, Oman National Engineering and Oman Investment & Financials were down 3.10 per cent, 2.08 per cent and 0.68 per cent respectively.
