VOX Cinema has stopped regular shows at five theatres in Suhar and Sur. The shows at other places will not be affected.
“As a responsible business focused on long-term sustainable growth, we have made the decision to close some VOX Cinemas in the Sultanate of Oman, with immediate effect,” a spokesperson of Majid Al Futtaim Leisure, Entertainment and Cinemas said in a statement to the Observer.
The shows at VOX Ruwi, Shatti al Qurum, and Panorama Mall, besides its screens in Suhar and Sur, are suspended as the agreement with the landlords has ended, according to reliable sources.
“Following an operational review into the performance of our brands, we have identified opportunities to improve the efficiency of our businesses and ensure our portfolio is profitable and creates value for our customers and our company,” he said.
As many as 15 screens in these five centres catered to the citizens and expatriate populations. The shows in other centres of VOX will continue unchanged.
“We are grateful to all the guests who have supported us over the years and been part of our journey. We are extremely grateful to our staff for their dedication and service and, we are extending our full support to them through the next steps with the aim of redeploying all staff.”
However, movie lovers can still enjoy a cinematic experience at other VOX Cinemas across the Sultanate of Oman.
