Multiple foods, one kitchen

Cloud kitchens, ghost kitchens, or shared kitchens are fast making inroads into the Sultanate of Oman. They are centralised food production facilities where many restaurants rent space to make food.

The advantage of this system is that multiple brands can work under one roof, and save rentals, overhead and employee cost.

These tech-powered and optimally efficient cloud kitchens are progressively changing the way the world eats while helping to reimagine the food industry.

Many global food companies use artificial intelligence to track quality, which varies from checking on the cleanliness of their cooks to adherence to HSE guidelines.

According to experts, the success of cloud kitchens depends not just on technology alone. It is a combination of rent for the space used, the quality of the brands that operate in it, the food delivered out of the cloud kitchen and the cost of the delivery.

“This kind of business model empowers a service platform for restaurants, international brands and Omani entrepreneurs, partnering with them to reach a wider audience with scalability through turnkey delivery solutions for the preparation, distribution and expansion of food without any investments,” says restaurateur and entrepreneur Aankush Bhatia.

Bhatia, along with two other co-founders, launched Oman’s first cloud kitchen, KitchenomiKs, in October 2021. KitchenomiKs’s mission is to revolutionise food and dining using innovative technology.

Adding In-Country Value (ICV) to the Sultanate, KitchenomiKs is in the process of creating the largest chain of virtual multi-brand restaurants and establishing delivery hubs in Oman, with plans to move into the rest of GCC by early 2023.

KitchenomiKs has partnered with Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre (OCEC) to operate state-of-the-art, and one of the largest kitchen spaces in Oman. This forms part of the strategic ICV plan, designed to contribute to the local economy and propel Oman, which is presently the 4th largest market for the cloud kitchen industry and valued at $180 million, to greater heights.

Marking clearly that cloud kitchens are the future of the restaurant business, KitchenomiKs is liaising with various Omani food connoisseurs to offer the best food from around the globe under one roof.
