In-Country Value Global Connect forum concludes

Oman LNG hosted the In-Country Value (ICV) Global Practitioners Connect Event in Muscat, organised in collaboration with Petroleum Development Oman (PDO) and Shell Development Oman (SDO).

The three-day event concluded on November 16 with a high-level report out session attended by senior officials, featured expert-led panel discussions which shed light on best ICV practices and methods that could ultimately benefit the country and its people. To achieve its “learning and education” scopes, the event also highlighted the role of ICV in supporting local Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) to foster a robust ecosystem that promotes collaboration within the energy industry.

International industry experts, practitioners, specialists and enthusiasts joined the event to share their experiences and discuss the various trends and challenges associated with ICV, with greater focus placed on sharing challenges and best practices relating to policies and operations.

Several panel discussions focused specifically on the role of oil and gas sector in promoting ICV, the energy transition, and disruptive technology such as the transition to renewables, skills transition, climate change, IT, digitalisation, and further exploring potential industry collaborations.

The event, which attracted many regional and international partners including Peterson Institute, FDI Advisory Board and different ICV delegtaions from Kazakhstan, Brunei, Norway, Saudi Arabia and Nigeria, came in collaboration with various local authorities such as the Ministry of Energy and Minerals, Oman Vision 2040 Follow Up and Implementation Unit, Oman Investment Authority in addition to Petroleum Development Oman (PDO) and Oman Shell.

PDO’s Managing Director, Steve Phimister, said: “We always strive to discover new ICV opportunities and challenges in our aim to establish PDO and Oman as an ICV centre of excellence both regionally and internationally. Organising this forum in collaboration with our partners in the oil and gas sector is in keeping with this vision and shows the shared commitment of key industry operators to further lead ICV in the country and foster the partnership between companies, suppliers and government authorities.

Walid Hadi, Oman Shell’s VP and Country Chairman said: “This workshop has come at an important time in Oman’s energy transition. So far we have witnessed excellent progress through the announcement of hydrogen regulations, Oman‘s commitment to Net Zero Emissions by 2050 and the establishment of Oman Sustainability Center. Revisiting what In-Country Value (ICV) should look like – in terms creation of new supply chain opportunities – with a team of renown experts and practitioners will ensure that ICV is integrated and is at pace with Oman’s energy transition.”

Hamed al Naamany, CEO from Oman LNG said: “We thank all participants who came to support this event. Oman LNG has always shown an unwavering commitment to promote ICV on different levels. Hosting this event alongside our partners is key to continuing to build our skills and knowledge on ICV, not only at the local level but also at the international level. In addition, it provide opportunities to align on innovative efforts from various stakeholders and enhance positively SMEs impacts.”
