Muscat: FSO, a Facebook group of photography enthusiasts in Oman turned 10 on November 10. To mark the occasion, the group is conducting various events for its members on Friday and Saturday.
The programmes on Friday include family photo shoot, basic photography workshop, training on cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) technique by Starcare Hospital medical team, games and dinner with live music.
On Saturday, FSO will organise a desert photography workshop with camel caravans,traditional bedouin arts, spot photography competition sponsored by Canon Middle East / Genetco.
Founded by Libin Prabhakaran, an IT consultant, FSO was started with the objective of improving photographic skills, learning together and sharing knowledge with the motto of ‘Let’s Learn Together’.
FSO was born when Libin and four of his friends came together on November 10, 2012 at 1 pm (magical number 10.11.12. 13!).
Today, it boasts over 4,000 followers on Facebook with 350 plus active members in FSO’s WhatsApp group communities.
FSO Muscat Group shutterbugs post pictures on FB, review photographs and do constructive criticism post events on social media. They meet every Friday except during summer when they conduct workshops or shoot indoors.
Many of its members have won awards in local and international photography competitions.
FSO members’ pictures of Oman’s beautiful landscapes & culture have been featured in local media and international magazines and exhibitions.
Photographs shot by FSO members have won several distinguished and eminent awards over the years and adorn several prestigious walls at places of repute.
