Muscat: Oman’s electricity and water production grew by .5 per cent and 5 per cent, respectively at the end of September 2022, according to the statistics issued by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI).
The total electricity generation in the Sultanate of Oman reached 32,501.5 Gwh by the end of September 2022, the NCSI report said.
The Governorate of Dhofar recorded an increase in total electricity generation by 9.1 per cent, to reach 3,226.6 gigawatts per hour (Gwh) by the end of September 2022. The governorates of North and South Al Batinah and Al Dhahirah also recorded an increase in total electricity generation by 5 per cent, to reach 21,163.5 gigawatts per hour.
As for the Sultanate of Oman’s net production of electricity until the end of September 2022, which includes purchases by the Oman Power and Water Procurement Company (OPWP) and purchases by the Rural Areas Electricity Company, by region, it amounted to 31,459.7 GWh, an increase of 0.4 per cent.
The largest amount of net electricity generation came in the Governorate of Dhofar, with an increase of 9.5 per cent. The governorates of North and South Al Batinah and Al Dhahirah recorded an increase in net electricity generation by 4.9 per cent.
On the other hand, the total amount of water produced in the Sultanate of Oman increased by 5 per cent to reach 383.80 million cubic metres at the end of September 2022. The governorates of Dhofar and Muscat recorded an increase in water production by 8.7 per cent and 6.9 per cent, respectively, compared to the same period in 2021.
