MUSCAT: Supporting regulations underpinning Oman’s emerging green hydrogen industry are expected to be issued by the end of the first quarter of 2023, Eng Salim bin Nasser al Aufi, Minister of Energy and Minerals stated here on Tuesday.
Speaking at the Green Hydrogen Summit Oman 2022 forum underway in the city, Al Aufi nevertheless urged interested investors to go ahead and register their interest via a newly established platform set up by the Omani government to ensure the transparent and streamlined development of green hydrogen projects in the Sultanate of Oman.
The platform is being managed by Hydrom, the new orchestrator of the Sultanate of Oman’s green hydrogen sector.
He vowed to open his office to any serious investor seeking clarifications or assurances about their investments pending the issuance of formal regulations.
“Please go through the Hydrom site, register your interest and then come and talk to us. And if there (are still issues that are) a show stopper, my office is open to you,” he stressed.
A framework for the development of the sector, first unveiled in October, will continue to serve as a guide to all parties interested in participating in Oman’s new green hydrogen industry, the Minister noted. Policies and regulations due to be issued early next year are meant to only formalise this framework, he said.
