Interval between doses of vaccine cut to four weeks in Oman

Muscat: The Ministry of Health announced that the period between COVID-19 first dose and second dose will be limited to four weeks, instead of six, with effect from Wednesday.

The Ministry urged people in target segments to book appointments for the second dose in advance through Tarassud+ application (covid19.moh.gov.om) before visiting the vaccination centres in different governorates of the Sultanate. The aim is to ensure a safe and streamlined vaccination process.

According to the Ministry, as many as 2,710,021 people have been vaccinated against COVID-19 with the first jab in Oman till (Sunday), 12 September 2021, reaching 76.3 per cent of the target population.
The number of those who received two jabs of COVID-19 vaccine stood at 1,626,851 comprising 45.8 percent. The total number of administered doses reached 4,336,872.

Oman on Tuesday reported 60 new cases of coronavirus (COVID-19) during the past 24 hours, in addition to one new Covid-19-related death case. This brings the total number of positive Covid-19 cases to 303,223 in the Sultanate. The total number of Covid-19-related death cases reached 4,090, the Ministry of Health said.

The Ministry added that 71 new cases have recovered, bringing the total number to 293,414 recoveries.
The Ministry also pointed out that five cases were hospitalised over the past 24 hours, as the total number of current hospitalised COVID-19-infected patients stands at 54, of them 28 are in intensive care units (ICUs).
