  • One of Oman’s first frozen bulk vessel operations demonstrates GWC Group’s specialist cold chain capabilities.
  • Successful first delivery secures a larger second commission and long-term cold storage contract.
  • Over 1,000 truckloads handled, stored and distributed across GCC markets.
  • Al Rawahi: “The project demonstrates GWC Group’s ability to connect cold chain demand across GCC markets.”

Gulf Warehousing Company Q.P.S.C (GWC Group), one of the region’s leading logistics groups providing cross-border and integrated logistics solutions, has completed one of the first frozen bulk vessel operations in the Sultanate of Oman, extending its management of the full cold value chain across the GCC.

Frozen goods entering Oman typically arrive in standard containers. Handling a full frozen bulk vessel required specialist cold chain expertise at every phase, from vessel offloading through temperature-controlled storage to onward distribution, maintaining uninterrupted frozen integrity from port to warehouse.

Delivery of that first operation earned GWC Group a second, larger commission: the largest frozen bulk vessel operation the Group has handled to date. Each operation earned the next. The same customer then awarded a long-term cold storage contract extending the relationship from vessel handling into ongoing storage. The Group subsequently began transporting frozen poultry products by road from Barka to Qatar and Kuwait, bringing combined volumes to more than 1,000 truckloads of frozen cargo handled, stored and distributed from Oman to local and regional warehouses.

The project reflects the continued growth of GWC Group’s regional platform, with the net revenue contribution from its international operations having tripled over the past two years as the Group strengthens its capabilities across Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Oman and Bahrain.

Haitham Al Rawahi, General Manager of GWC Oman operations, said: “Executing a project of this scale and complexity shows how GWC Group truly connects the region. Frozen bulk vessel handling demands strict, uninterrupted temperature control at every phase, from offloading at the port through storage to long-distance cross-border transportation. Our teams in Oman delivered that without compromise, drawing on the Group’s specialized assets and technical knowhow.”

He added: “From our operations in Oman, we can now serve cold chain demand across Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates while maintaining the highest standards of quality and temperature integrity. The confidence our customers place in us continues to create opportunities for long-term growth across the region.”

GWC Group’s cross-border cold chain logistics is supported by a global network spanning more than 120 countries through over 550 freight partners worldwide. The Group operates more than four million square meters of logistics infrastructure supported by over 1600 specialised vehicles and a network of 20 strategic locations across the GCC, moving more than two million tonnes of freight annually.
