As a part of community-driven Maliyat initiative

Bank Muscat, the leading financial services provider in the Sultanate of Oman, continues to extend the effect of its community-driven “Maliyat” initiative with financial literacy sessions targeting this year a new segment of society. In this context, Bank Muscat held, in collaboration with the Ministry of Social Development, the second financial literacy workshop dedicated to the newlyweds and those preparing for marriage in Nizwa, Al Dakhiliyah Governorate. The workshop featured around 40 participants who were equipped with the knowledge and practical skills needed to build sound financial habits and achieve long-term financial and family stability.
The workshop follows the successful implementation of the initiative in Dhofar Governorate and reflects Bank Muscat’s continued efforts to expand financial literacy initiatives across the Sultanate. Through these workshops, the Bank aims to empower participants with the knowledge and confidence to make informed financial decisions, manage household finances effectively and plan for a secure financial future. The initiative also reinforces Bank Muscat’s commitment to delivering sustainable community programmes and strengthening partnerships with government entities and community organisations in support of Oman’s broader social and economic development goals.
The workshop features a range of interactive sessions covering key aspects of personal and family financial management. Topics include the importance of financial planning in married life, household budgeting, effective spending and saving strategies, setting shared financial goals, and fostering transparency and mutual understanding in managing family finances. Participants will also explore common financial challenges faced by newly married couples, practical approaches to overcoming them, and the role of financial intelligence in enhancing long-term family wellbeing and financial resilience.
Bank Muscat continues to invest in specialised financial literacy initiatives that encourage positive financial behaviours across different segments of society, reflecting the Bank’s belief that financial awareness is fundamental to improving quality of life and strengthening the economic wellbeing of individuals and families. As part of these efforts, the Bank has recently delivered a series of workshops tailored to diverse community groups, including specialised financial literacy sessions for more than 120 students with hearing impairments at the Scientific College of Design, as well as dedicated workshops for women held in Nakhal, Muscat, Sur, Ibra and Liwa, benefiting more than 200 participants. In addition to these workshops, Bank Muscat continues to implement flagship financial education initiatives, including the Maliyat Academy programme for school students, which has reached more than 100,000 students to date. The Bank also continues to expand the reach of Maliyat, its online financial literacy platform launched in 2019, offering free educational courses for adults aged 18 and above to advance sound financial management and strengthen financial awareness across the community.
