Muscat: The Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion (MoCIIP) said that the number of 10 most registered commercial activities during the first quarter of 2021 reached 73,132 activities.

The ministry said that the building and construction contracting topped the list with 13,277 activities, recording 18.15 per cent of the total top ten most registered activities, and 3.7 per cent of the total economic activities registered during the first quarter of 2021.

The statistics department at MoCIIP indicates that export and import offices ranked second among the 10 most registered commercial activities with 9,704 activities, followed by groceries stores which ranked third with 7,536 activities.

Cafes that mainly serve meals, ranked fourth with 7,374 activities, while cafes that served drinks ranked fifth, by recording 6,920 activities.

The activity of tailoring and sewing of Arab and non-Arab women’s clothes ranked sixth with 6,151 activities and of haircutting, hairdressing and men’s shaving came seventh by recording 5,840 activities.

The refrigerators activity ranked eighth by recording 5,694 activities, restaurants ranked ninth with 5,485 activities, and transporting goods and equipment by truck in the field of road transport, ranked tenth by registering 5,151 activities.
