Muscat: Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI), in cooperation with the Arab-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry, on Tuesday organized the Omani-German Business Forum.
The forum, held via video-conferencing, comes within the chamber’s initiative themed “OCCI: Global Communication”.
The forum discussed means of promoting trade exchange and exploring investment opportunities between the Sultanate of Oman and the Federal Republic of Germany.
The forum was attended by Yousef Said al Ameri, Oman’s Ambassador to Germany, Thomas Friedrich Schneider, Germany’s Ambassador to Oman, Eng Rida Juma al Saleh, Chairman of the OCCI Board of Directors and Peter Ramsauer, President of the Arab German Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
The Chairman of OCCI’s Board of Directors said that the forum is being held as part of the efforts made by the private sector’s institutions in Oman and Germany in order to enhance cooperation and raise the volume of trade exchange rates, as well as establish joint commercial partnerships.
The value of the Omani imports from Germany amounted to approximately $436 million in 2020, while the Omani exports to Germany exceeded $5,460,000.
The volume of trade exchange between the two countries reached approximately $442 million, Al Saleh added.
Moreover, a number of work papers were presented in the forum covering topics such as the trends and pillars of Oman Vision 2040, priorities of the current stage, opportunities and incentives for investment in Oman, as well as the advantages and facilities offered by special and free economic zones to investors. –ONA
