Muscat: The Sultanate of Oman, represented by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources took part in the 2nd meeting of the Joint Arab Ministerial Council for Water and Agriculture.
Oman’s delegation in the online meeting was headed by Dr Ahmed Nasser al Bakri, the Ministry’s Undersecretary for Agriculture.
The meeting discussed the action plan on developing institutional coordination instruments and activating the existing mechanisms between the water resources and agriculture sectors, among other topics.
The meeting also reviewed the draft of guidance principles in allocating water resources for farming in a sustainable manner. Moreover, it approved the Arab Strategy for Water Security to meet the challenges and future needs for sustainable development 2010-2030. –ONA
