Muscat: The activities and events of the sports caravan were launched today in the town of Al Bana in the Wilayat of Ibri in Al Dhahirah Governorate, organised by the Al Bana Sports, Cultural and Social Team, in cooperation with the Department of Culture, Sports and Youth in the governorate.
The sports caravan’s activities include a number of activities, such as: a bicycle race for children and young people aged 15 years and under for a distance of 5 km, in addition to a mountain walk of 7 km directed to youth of 15 years and older, in addition to the relay race, the shot put competition and basketball.
The events include cultural programmes such as the storyteller session for children, in which some talents and literary paragraphs are presented, such as telling stories and stories in an interesting artistic style, in addition to cultural competitions dedicated to various groups and popular games.
It also organised a workshop on “first aid” aimed at raising the awareness of participants on how to deal with emergency situations in various environments, and another workshop for women on soap making.
Qasim bin Muhammad Al Hosani, head of the Al Bana Sports, Cultural and Social Team, said: “We greatly appreciate the keenness of the Department of Culture, Sports and Youth in Al Dhahirah Governorate, which strives diligently to activate sports activities in the state, pay attention to the youth category, and develop their skills, inclinations and creativity in various fields.”
