Muscat -The Health Council of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) warned against using toothpaste on first-degree burns that a person may be exposed to at home.
The council added that the paste contains chemicals that cause burns, although it gives a feeling of cold at first.
The council stressed the avoidance of applying olive oil and butter on burns, as these substances cause heat retention inside the burns.
The GCC Health Council warned to avoid any dangerous complications, by following several steps, including placing the burned area under lukewarm water for a period of 10 to 20 minutes, in addition to using creams and ointments to treat burns, and if the pain is severe, it is possible to take painkillers, and seek help or Medical advice if pain persists.
