London: Mansour Khalfan al Wahaibi, Permanent Envoy of the Sultanate of Oman to the International Maritime Organization (IMO) handed over his credentials to Kitack Lim, Secretary General of the IMO here on Wednesday.
Al Wahaibi underscored the attention accorded by the Sultanate of Oman to the maritime sector.
The IMO, an affiliate of the United Nations (UN), is an agency specialized in preserving marine safety and preventing pollution caused by ships.
The IMO aims to support governmental cooperation in organizing maritime practices within the framework of international trade. It also targets achieving the highest marine safety standards, assuring the competency of vessel personal, controlling pollution caused by ships and facilitating international trade.
