MUSCAT: The Ministry of Energy and Minerals (MEM) will hold a press conference on Sunday, October 23, to announce the launch of opportunities and incentives for investment in the green hydrogen sector. Details about this year’s Green Energy Summit Oman (GHSO) will be unveiled as well.
The conference will discuss the details of the recent Royal Directives on Oman’s strategy for achieving carbon neutrality by 2050 and the establishment of the Oman Sustainability Center to keep pace with global trends in reducing carbon emissions.
The Ministry has taken important steps towards accelerating the procedures for regulating the new hydrogen sector, developing the legal frameworks and policies necessary for its growth, allocating the appropriate sites for its production in order to enhance the attraction of investments, work to localize this technology and prepare the necessary studies for it.
The carbon management laboratory and its deliberations will also will reflect positively on Oman’s efforts to achieve Net Zero – a step that will alsog contribute to diversifying sources of income and creating opportunities for sustainable economic and social growth, while balancing sustainable development, reducing the repercussions of climate change, leveraging clean technology to achieve sustainability, building a knowledge economy and diversifying energy sources.
