International career guidance event held at Indian School Bausher

Muscat: Avenir 2022 #DISCOVERYOU was inaugurated by Dr Nutayla Al Harthy, Dean, Oman Dental College at a ceremonious function organised by Indian School Bousher on 13 October, 2022. Dr. Sivakumar Manickam, Chairman, Board of Directors, Indian Schools Oman presided over the function.

The event Avenir 2022 is being conducted in a hybrid mode post COVID-19 pandemic. Avenir 2022 will play a major role in guiding the students to be global citizens and help them choose the right career path as they pursue higher education after they graduate from schools.

In her inaugural address, Chief Guest Dr Nutayla Al Harthy exhorted the students the significance of discovering one’s potentials and move forward. She shared the lessons learnt from her own life experiences to make her speech indelible for the students.

While explaining the difference between the fixed mind-set and the growth mind-set, Dr Al Harthy said, “Mind-set is extremely important for anyone embarking on the journey of life. It is very important to have a growth mind-set to be bold enough to face challenges headstrong and move forward.”

In his introductory address, Dr. Sivakumar Manickam said, “The tagline of Avenir 2022 ‘#Discoveryou’ is meaningful and that’s the first step in career choice – get to know yourself. Once you know your strengths, you will find that it will help you to make career decisions that are in your best interest. Be mindful of your goals. Any job that helps you achieve them is a benchmark for success”.

The Chief Guest Dr. Nutayla Al Harthy inaugurated the Avenir App – one of the unique features of Avenir 2022 #DISCOVERYOU by releasing the video. The aim of Avenir 2022 #DISCOVERYOU is to be the lighthouse – the guiding light in the darkness of storms in the sea of their lives. A plethora of sessions were streamlined in the main streams namely Science, Engineering, Humanities and Commerce.

The function witnessed the presence of Syed Salman, Vice Chairman and Gajesh Dhariwal, Director on the Board of Indian Schools, Ajayan Poyyara, President and dignitaries of the of Indian School Bousher School Management Committee, Principals, Vice Principals, Counsellors, Coordinators, teachers, parents and the ambitious student participants.

The ceremony began with the Royal Anthem of Oman followed by the National Anthem of India, thereafter the lighting of the lamp which brought in a feeling of divinity through the sloka and the prayer song by the ISB Choir.

The welcome dance was indeed a beautiful rhythmic presentation by the dance troupe. The President School Management Committee rendered the warm words of welcome to the chief guest and all the respected dignitaries.

The thematic song and dance performance by the students of Indian School Bousher added colour to the function. Principal Dr.  Bhavesh Bhalerao presented the overview of the Avenir 2022 #DISCOVERYOU. The Principal highlighted the value additions in Avenir 2022 namely the mobile app, the availability of information all through the year, guidance and support from the team of counsellors, etc.The ceremony concluded with the Vote of thanks proposed by Dr. Chandan Jayasimha, the Chairperson for Co-curricular & Cultural Events in the School Management Committee.
