Bank Muscat, the leading financial services provider in the Sultanate of Oman, has been honoured with the “CSR Impact on Education: Financial Literacy by Maliyat Academy Award” at the Oman CSR Summit & Awards 2024, organised by the United Media Services Group. The award ceremony was held under the auspices of H.E. Dr. Mahad bin Said Ba’owain, Minister of Labour, and attended by representatives of leading government institutions and corporates. Saleh Mohammed Al Maaini, Deputy General Manager – Capital Region at Bank Muscat, received the award on behalf of the Bank.
The Oman CSR Awards are designed to recognize institutions and individuals who promote social responsibility across all societal segments and adopt innovative, sustainable solutions to social challenges to achieve a clear impact and positive outcomes
On this occasion, Saleh Mohammed Al Maaini, Deputy General Manager – Capital Regions at Bank Muscat, emphasized Bank Muscat’s commitment to implementing sustainable programmes and initiatives in social responsibility that serve Omani society and promote volunteerism among community members, reaffirming the Bank’s dedication to strengthening cooperation with various government and private entities concerned with this important area.
Al Maaini added that this award highlights the significant impact of the Academy in disseminating financial literacy and effective financial planning, which has become crucial for the sustainability of financial resources.
Bank Muscat launched the Maliyat Academy initiative for youth aged 13 to 16 to enhance their understanding of financial management and prepare them for life with better financial planning skills. Through these training courses, the Bank aims to equip participants with fundamental financial management skills and the ability to make informed decisions, thus preparing them for financial independence.
During the academic year 2023-2024, more than 23,000 students benefited from the Academy programme, which was implemented in 395 schools across various governorates of Oman, involving 488 trainers in cooperation with the Ministry of Education.
Bank Muscat adopts clear strategies and implements sustainable annual programmes and initiatives aimed at making a positive impact on Omani society across several sectors. These strategies focus on achieving long-term benefits for diverse community segments, creating positive impacts in areas such as education, youth, sports, alternative energy, health, and the SME sector. The Bank also runs numerous community service initiatives, benefiting thousands across the Sultanate, including “Green Sports,” “Tadhamun,” and Al Wathbah Academy, among others.
