Omani entrepreneur to deliver keynote speech at GITEX Global 2021 trade meet

Dubai: Omani tech entrepreneur Tariq Al Barwani joined regional government leaders and senior ICT experts at the GITEX Global 2021, the largest technology exhibition and conference in the Middle East.

While there, he will also discuss innovation taking place in the Arab World, which is being undertaken by a broad range of organisations, ranging from government organisations to start-ups.

“Cybersecurity and privacy protection are baseline requirements to maintain law and order in a digital world, I am excited to be part of the conference and look forward to highlight the challenges in cyberspace so as the role of open collaboration between public and private sectors,” said Al Barwani, the founder of Knowledge Oman.

Tariq is to deliver a keynote session along with other senior ICT leaders on cybersecurity opportunities, issues and challenges at the Huawei Arab Innovation Day, scheduled to be conducted at GITEX Global 2021. The session will highlight the role of open collaboration between organizations for a resilient digital economy.

“Openness, transparency and collaboration in cyber security is a key factor for a resilient digital economy”, emphasised Al Barwani.

GITEX Global, which runs from 17 to 21 October, 2021, will unite international innovators across the globe in artificial intelligence, 5G, cloud, big data, cybersecurity, block chain, quantum computing, fintech and immersive marketing.

The annual event will gather the region’s government leaders, academia, industry analysts and regulators under one roof to showcase cutting edge technologies so as engage in a comprehensive series of summits and exhibitions from leading tech firms around the world.

“I will be speaking about cyber security digital resilience where I will specifically highlight cyberspace challenges and the role of open collaboration between public and private sectors for a successful resilient digital economy,” he explained. “The topic is very important, especially with the rise of hacking, security breach and the like in the region.

“Today, no matter where you are connected from, you’re still not 100 per cent immune from being attacked and consequently hacked!” he added. “Through my experiences, I hope to share and gain knowledge and practical stories on what is happening globally that could potentially happen regionally and even locally as well.

“I hope that the real world stories, practices and insights will help organisations collaborate openly among them – on what is available, how it is done, and where they could contribute for resilient digital economies,” Al Barwani explained.
