Daymaniyat cleaning drive after cyclone Shaheen

Muscat: Teams from the Environment Authority headed to the Daymaniyat Islands to clean up the debris that washed up on its beaches due to cyclone Shaheen.

“To reinforce the efforts of the Environment Agency for the continuity of the cleanliness of the Omani beaches, specialists from the Wildlife Protection Unit are cleaning the beaches of the Daymaniyat natural islands of the remnants of tree branches, plastic cans and other material, which were carried by the wadis to the sea as a result of cyclone Shaheen,” said the Environment Authority in a statement.

Meanwhile, cleanup operations continue in North Al Batinah, which felt the maximum impact of the cyclone.
“The temporary field centre in the wilayat of Suwaiq in North Al Batinah governorate continues its efforts, by following up and directing the field teams to deal with the reports concerning the impact of cyclone Shaheen,” said a statement from the Civil Defence and Ambulance Authority.

The Royal Oman Police added, “In continuation of the plans for recovery and return to normalcy in the areas affected by the recent weather situation, the Sultan Qaboos Academy for Police Sciences provides the municipal sector with human resources to help remove waste from public places and assist the affected citizens in cleanup operations.”
