Foreign Direct Investments to Oman also rose during the first nine months last year, reaching OMR1.48bn in 2021 as compared to OMR1.42bn in 2020.

Muscat: Exports from Oman crossed OMR12bn during the first nine months of 2021, according to the National Centre for Statistics and Information.

NCSI numbers show that out of the OMR12.28bn exports during the period, OMR7.8bn came from oil and gas exports, while OMR 4.18bn was earned through non-oil exports. Re-exports contributed OMR1.2bn.

The figures were reported by Oman News Agency as part of the announcement for the celebration of Industry Day, which falls on 9 February every year.

The celebrations also serve to commemorate the day on which Late His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said bin Taimour visited Rusayl Industrial Estate in 1991.

During the celebrations, Qais bin Mohammed Al Yousuf, the Minister of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion, will meet through video conferencing industrialists, project owners and investors to exchange views on investment opportunities in the industrial sector as also analysing the challenges facing them.

Foreign Direct Investments to Oman also rose during the first nine months last year, reaching OMR1.48bn in 2021 as compared to OMR1.42bn in 2020. The industrial sector, during this period, contributed 8.5 per cent to the country’s GDP, or OMR 2bn.

There are 33,359 Omanis working in the industrial sector, representing 12.64 per cent of the 263,913 nationals who work in the country’s private sector.
