20-60 mm of rainfall recorded on Al Hajar

The amounts of rain according to satellite data during Sunday night to Monday ranged between 20-60 mm on the Al Hajar Mountains and Musandam Governorate, while Al Batinah coast had recorded 20-35 mm.

Muscat, Al Dakhiliyah, South and North Sharqiyah are the governorates that were in the area of impact of the low pressure system. “These places might continue to receive rain for some time. But on Tuesday the main focus was on Musandam, North Al Batinah and Al Dhahirah,” said the weather forecaster at Oman Met Office.

He added that wadis in Al Hajar Mountains, North Sharqiyah and coasts of North and South al Batinah as well as Dakhiliyah are flowing because they have significant amount in the last three weeks.

Weather forecast for Wednesday states that it will be partly cloudy to cloudy skies over most of the governorates with chances of rain of varying intensity occasionally thundershower and over governorates of Muscat, North Al Sharqiyah, Al Dakhiliyah, South Al Batinah, North Al Batinah Al Buraimi, Al Dhahirah and Musandam. Partly cloudy skies along the coastal areas of Dhofar Governorate and adjoining mountains with intermittent drizzle and isolated rain.

There are also chances of blowing dust over desert and open areas.

According to satellite images, the chances of the flow and intensification of clouds and rainfall of varying intensity will continue, with a decrease in horizontal visibility at times over the northern governorates of the Sultanate of Oman.
