Muscat: The 30th Sultan Qaboos competition for the Holy Quran will resume on Monday after it was stopped for two consecutive years due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The 30th edition of the competition is organised by the Sultan Qaboos Higher Center for Culture and Science and the Diwan of Royal Court.
Around 2,881 men and women competitors participating in the competition’s preliminary qualifiers, 8 of whom will qualify for the final.
The competition will be held in 25 centres across the governorates of the Sultanate of Oman.
In its current version, the competition includes 7 levels: the first level (memorising the entire Holy Quran), the second level (memorising twenty-four consecutive parts), the third level (memorising eighteen consecutive parts), the fourth level (memorising twelve consecutive parts), and the fifth level (memorising twelve consecutive parts) sixth level (memorising six consecutive parts for those who are born after 2007 or above, and seventh level (memorising two consecutive parts for those born in 2014 or above).
The registration for the competition began on March 16 and continued until August 6. The final qualifiers will take place in the month of November, during which prizes will be awarded to the top three from each level of the competition and 134 consolation prizes. — ONA
