Rakoda Asian Film Festival, held annually under the slogan ‘movies are messages of peace’, has announced its jury for the current edition.
The jury of the festival, which begins on October 1, is headed by Dr Khaled bin Abdel Rahim al Zadjali. Habib Hussein, Kuwaiti director; Madeleine Tabar, Lebanese actress; Dina Abdel Salam, Egyptian director; Ashraf Abu al Yazid, writer and novelist; and Mohamed Kamal Mubarak, film critic, are members of the panel that will adjudicate films from across the world.
Rakoda Film Fest aims to give attention to the short fiction film in the continent of Asia and a number of events are planned aiming at spreading cinematic awareness, and encouraging young film talents.
“The festival aspires to be a bridge of cultural and civilisational communication between Egyptian cinema and its counterparts in the countries of the Asian continent,” said Dr Khalid al Zadjali.
“We aim to attracting film-makers to showcase their creations and shed light on their experiences in film making, so that it receives its due attention and definition.”
The festival also aims at raising the aesthetic sense through film making which is the most powerful mode of communicating with the society, to eventually triumph over human values, pure and purposeful art, and noble human love, according to the organisers.
The festival which is held online through digital cinema platform Racoda, which was founded and headed by film critic and screenwriter Imad al Nuwairi, with the support of Media Du company in Kuwait.
