Muscat: The Sultanate of Oman will witness a partial solar eclipse tomorrow.
According to the Oman Astronomical Society, the partial solar eclipse will begin at 2:50 pm (local time), while the peak of the partial eclipse will reach at 4 pm, and it will end at 5 pm. The partial solar eclipse will last around two hours and seven minutes.
The Astronomical Society has urged observers to use welding helmets, solar telescopes and binoculars, and solar eclipse which trying to observe the partial eclipse.
According to experts, “An eclipse occurs when the moon blocks the sun either in part or in totality, as seen from Earth. As the moon makes its orbit around Earth, and as Earth orbits around the sun, the moon gets caught in the middle and casts a shadow on Earth. Anyone standing in that shadow will be able to see the solar eclipse.
Experts also urged people to never look directly at the sun as ‘eclipses can be dangerous because the sudden changes do not give your eyes a chance to adapt.’
According to the Astronomical Society, it will be 36 per cent in Muscat, 22 per cent in Salalah, 35 per cent in Nizwa, 37 per cent in Suhar, and 41 per cent in Musandam
Omani Astronomical Society, in cooperation with the Department of Astronomical Affairs at the Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs, will be organizing mass observing events for the partial solar eclipse.
