Football Fans Festival has started at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre with the opening of the World Cup on Sunday. The festive mood is there due to the Gulf region being the first venue for the big event.
The festival will continue from November 20 to December 18 to mark the Sultanate of Oman’s support for the World Cup.
It will be a live event, where visitors to the festival will have a date with the excitement and festive atmosphere of the World Cup.
The festival allows enjoying watching all the championship matches live, in addition to many accompanying events and activities. It will offer a variety of programmes, including artistic performances, interactive games, exciting competitions, and various prizes and incentives for visitors.
Also, will include an area dedicated to local and international restaurants and cafes that offer great meals that cater to all tastes.
Azzan bin Qasim al Busaidy, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism for Tourism and Chairman of the Steering Committee of the Sultanate of Oman’s Programme Supporting the Qatar World Cup 2022, had said previously, “The World Cup is the most important sporting event ever hosted by the region, and therefore the Sultanate of Oman has launched a special programme to celebrate this exceptional occasion based on the fact that Muscat is one of the cities approved to host the World Cup fans, as the programme aims to provide an integrated experience for fans who choose Muscat to stay during the tournament. The Football Fan Festival is the programme’s main attraction, as it is planned to be an unforgettable memory that brings visitors and fans closer to the atmosphere of the World Cup while providing an ideal experience.”
Accommodation services have been provided in the programme along with tourism experiences represented by accommodation offers, tourism products and experiences in the hospitality sector, tours and tourism products.
Various tourist attractions will suit World Cup fans at competitive prices.

The Sultanate of Oman worked to make participation in this event in all terms like Muscat International Airport’s preparation plan for facilitating the movement of fans at Muscat Airport, including the special paths for each of the departure and arrival flights, by defining gates designated for planes carrying World Cup fans, and ports designated for checking the fans, and specifying devices for customs inspection, with an integrated staff of the customer service team.
The Football Fan Festival website has the programme’s economic impact, attracting lots of business opportunities available to SMEs.
The event involves construction operations, event management, marketing, etc. The festival will also provide many direct and indirect job opportunities for Omani competencies during the period.
